Wow, what a wonderful year we have had with your 8th-grade students! Since October your student has been involved with a project called Tomb It May Concern; students in the 8th grade have been working to meet many needs that Riverside Cemetery currently has. The students have been working so hard on their chosen projects and we have had many successes and acknowledgments from the community. One last way we would like to showcase our work over the last 8 months is to have a community day at Riverside Cemetery. This will be taking place on Friday, May 26 from 2:00 P.M. -5:30 P.M. at Riverside Cemetery located in Charles City. Your child will be expected to take part in the entirety of this event and inform the public on their findings and work.
There will be many special events taking place, we will have a live role-play of the James Cullen story, ribbon cutting of a new plaque that will be placed to commemorate those who died of diphtheria, videos produced by students will be played continuously throughout the event in the historic Riverside Chapel, a scavenger hunt, and many other displays will be presented as well.
Students will be bussed to and from the cemetery and can be picked up from the Charles City Middle School by 6:00 P.M. Friday evening. Please come out to Riverside Cemetery to support your child at this event and see what your child has been working on this year.
