The School Improvement Advisory Committee currently is comprised of 4 students, 4 parents, 4 teachers (one each from Washington, Lincoln, Middle School, & High School), 4 community members, 1 principal, 1 board member, and the Superintendent of Schools.

The responsibility of SIAC is to make informed recommendations to the Charles City Board of Education. To the extent possible, committee membership shall have balanced representation with regard to race, gender, national origin, and disability. Members of our school district’s SIAC serve a term of two years with roughly half of the committee replaced every year.
The purpose of the SIAC is to provide input to the board of education regarding:
            •           Major educational needs
            •           Student learning goals
            •           Long-range and annual improvement goals
            •           Desired levels of student performance
            •           Progress toward meeting district goals
            •           Harassment/bullying prevention initiatives
            •           Character education
The SIAC typically meets five times during the school year (Sept, Nov, Jan, Mar/Apr, & June) to review district data, receive input from committee members, and develop recommendations for the board of education for the annual goal-setting meeting.  Applications are available below.  Completed applications should be sent to the Superintendent’s Office by August 15.
If you have a school improvement issue you would like the committee to discuss, please contact Dr. Dan Cox.
