High School

Regent Admission Index

RAI

February 14, 2008

Iowa's three public universities (Iowa State University, The University
of Iowa, and the University of Northern Iowa) have announced a change in
their admission requirements for freshman applicants who wish to enroll
beginning Fall 2009 or beyond. While each university will maintain
their minimum high school course requirements for admission, their
traditional upper-half class rank requirement will be replaced by the
Regent Admission Index (RAI).

The universities will compute an RAI score for each applicant that will
be based on the student's high school cumulative grade-point average, high school
class rank, ACT or SAT test score, and the number of core courses that
the student will complete in grades 9-12. Detailed information
concerning the new admission requirements may be found online at
www2.state.is.us/regents/RAI/index.html.
