First Grade News and Report

by Sheila Etherington

October 09, 2008

Dear Parents,

We are doing well in first grade.  Life cycles has been a fun unit in Science.  We have studied life cycles of people, animals and insects.  We will begin our new health unit next week.  It is fun to see the children work to learn:)

We have been moving forward in reading.  As you receive your child's report card soon, please take note of their accomplishments.  Our goal for first trimester of first grade is that your child could read 50 words per minute.  That will be their CBM score.

We will be having conferences next week on Thursday the  13th and also on Tuesday the 18th.  You will receive a note in your child's friday folder today so that you can sign and return it. I look forward to seeing all of you!

Because of the snow, your child is going to need their boots and snow pants at school.  They will still go outside without them but will not be allowed off of the pavement.

Thank you for all that you do with your children and enjoy the snow!

Mrs. Etherington
