MIDDLE SCHOOL – GOOD THINGS HAPPENING
5TH GRADE TRANSITION TO 6TH GRADE
6TH GRADE IC TRANSITION TO 7TH GRADE
The new transition activities for all 5th grade students entering 6th grade were extremely beneficial to the students, teachers, and parents. The transition for these younger students is expected to be a pleasant and rewarding experience for everyone involved in the building change. The same is true for all I.C. School 6th grade students entering 7th grade in the fall. Thank you to principals, Mr. Bengtson, Mrs. Cruse, and Mrs. Hart for allowing faculty to make this a worthwhile experience.

THANK YOU TEACHER & AIDE SUBSTITUTES!
Thank you to Mrs. Jo Vandenburg and to Mrs. Dunkel for the professional manner in which they served as substitute teachers in the absence of Mrs. Dean and Mrs. Pittman. The substitutes that work in our school district are to be commended for their hard work, dedication, and willingness to work in the classrooms.
LETTER FROM 8th GRADE PARENT TO MRS. LYNCH
“Now that our son is graduating from Charles City Middle School my wife and I would like to extend our deep and sincere appreciation of your work and the work of staff in the office. Our son had two great years at CCMS and thoroughly enjoyed not only his academic work, but also the social environment of the school. I am sure that you and the staff in the office played a major role in his achievements. Thank you for all your caring and please extend our thanks to the other staff as well. Hopefully we will meet again.”
POWERSCHOOL ACCESS BY MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS/GUARDIANS
This year, middle school parents accessed PowerSchool an average of 20,000 times and accessed the records of 82% of our students. The average length of each visit was approximately 20 minutes and approximately 80 parents accessed their child’s records on a daily basis. PowerSchool has been a very beneficial tool in helping to keep parents connected to their child’s progress in school. Incorporating the use of PowerSchool by all secretaries, principals and teachers has allowed parents and students to monitor education and school information.

Washington Elementary raised over $800 for Tornado Relief and it was matched by our PTO to about $1600 or so. We pledged $500 to the radio telethon and the rest is going to the Parkersburg/Aplington Schools. What a caring and supportive group of kids and staff!
Nina Coulson

Many 7th grade students and CCMS staff members cleaned their closets to provide clothing for Parkersburg and areas that were hit by the tornadoes over Memorial Day weekend.
