School Closing Procedures

With the winter season quickly approaching, the Charles City Community Schools would like to alert the staff, students, and parents to the school closing procedures for the school year. The decision to close school due to inclement weather is a very difficult and serious undertaking. At all times the safety of students is the underlying basis for determining when to cancel school or to send the buses home early.
There will be times when the regular buses cannot travel on all of their particular roads due to large accumulations of snow, or because of certain drifting patterns in some areas of the district. Buses will travel where possible during these situations.
In most situations, the decision to cancel classes will be made by 6:30 A.M. When school is cancelled, or when classes will start late or be dismissed early due to inclement weather, the following radio and TV stations will be contacted:
