MOLLY STAUDT - HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH

Molly Staudt will be welcoming students this fall with a big “Bienvenida” as Charles City High School’s newest Spanish teacher. She will be teaching high school students Spanish as a world language. Staudt grew up in Forest City and has taught in the Des Moines Public Schools for three years. She graduated from Buena Vista University with a BA in K-12 Spanish Education. She is fully bilingual in Spanish and is also endorsed to teach English as a second language. Staudt is excited to be in a smaller community in order to feel connected with the community where she lives and works. She was impressed with the high-quality Spanish educational curriculum Charles City Community Schools offers to students. Staudt has several family connections in the community. She is married to her husband Jake, who will start a medical school clinical rotation at Mercy Hospital in Mason City. She has a one-month-old son, Colson.

Carly Marten comes to Charles City this fall with experience teaching in both urban and rural schools. Mrs. Marten will be joining the 8th grade team at the Charles City Middle School, teaching English/Language Arts. She graduated from West Marshall High School and continued her education at Iowa State University, graduating with a BA in English Education. She is currently earning her Master's in Education Administration from the University of Northern Iowa. Marten talks about the great educators she grew up with and wants to impact her students' lives in the same positive way. She says her family is excited to be coming to Charles City. "Many places have chosen us over the years. Charles City is where we are choosing to settle our family," says Marten. "We've been looking forward to this for a long time, and it's finally coming together." Marten noted that Northeast Iowa is a huge draw for her family. She appreciates how this community embraces the landscape of diversity, and Charles City's positive family atmosphere is where they want to raise their children. Carly is married to her husband Evan who will begin as the new Finance Director in April. They are expecting their first child this summer.
